China coast guard cracks major oil smuggling case

Fuzhou - Coast Guard in Fuzhou City, Fujian Province, east China, arrested has 10 suspects in a smuggling case involving about 5,500 tons of refined worth of oil 25 million yuan (about $ 3.81 million), local authorities said Monday.

The Coast Guard in Fuzhou launched an investigation after receiving a tip-off in early August on a group of refined oil smuggling near the coasts of the provinces including Guangdong, Fujian and Zhejiang.

November 7, the Coast Guard sent working groups to bust the ring and seized about 1,000 tons of refined oil, an oil and an oil depot.

The investigation revealed that the ring usually buy a small amount of oil refined legally in the ports of Guangdong and Zhejiang and off the positioning system of the ship after it entered into open water. Thus introducing refined oil smuggling along the coast of Fuzhou for sale.
